Within declared Building Control Areas (Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield, Alice Springs, Katherine, and Tennant Creek), residential building work costing over $12,000 must be carried out by an NT registered building practitioner.
Residential Building Cover & Fidelity Fund
Mandatory for Work Over $12,000
For residential building contracts over $12,000, builders must provide proof of Residential Building Cover (issued via Master Builders NT Consumer Protection Fidelity Fund) covering structural defects and non-completion up to $200,000.
